How to install in 4 steps
Tap the Download button above
Your phone will download the kinovia.apk file. You may see a warning from your browser — tap 'Download anyway' or 'OK' to continue. This is normal for APK files downloaded outside a store.
Allow installation from this source
Android will ask if you want to allow your browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) to install apps. Tap 'Settings' then enable 'Allow from this source'. You only need to do this once. After installation you can turn it off again if you prefer.
Open the downloaded file and install
Go to your Downloads folder (or tap the notification) and open the kinovia.apk file. Tap 'Install' on the screen that appears. The installation takes a few seconds.
Open Kinovia and create your family space
Once installed, open Kinovia from your app drawer. Tap 'Create a Family' to set up your family space, or 'Join a Family' if someone has already sent you an invite code.

The exact path varies slightly by Android version and phone brand:
- Samsung: Settings → Apps → Special access → Install unknown apps
- Google Pixel: Settings → Security → Install unknown apps
- Most Android 8+: When prompted, tap the "Settings" link in the warning dialog
Common questions
Is this APK safe to install?
Yes. This is the official Kinovia app, signed with our release certificate and built from the same codebase as the version submitted to app stores. You can verify the app's authenticity by checking that the developer name shows 'Superb Integrated Technologies' or 'Kinovia' on the installation screen.
Why isn't Kinovia on Google Play?
We are working through the Google Play store approval process. In the meantime, you can install the app directly from this page. The direct APK is identical to what will appear on the store.
Will I get updates automatically?
Not automatically — you will need to download and install new versions manually from this page when they are released. We will notify you of updates if you have signed up via the contact page. Once Kinovia is on Google Play, updates will be handled automatically.
Does this work on all Android phones?
Kinovia requires Android 8.0 (Oreo) or higher, which covers the vast majority of Android phones sold after 2017. It is not compatible with Amazon Fire tablets at this time.
Is 'Allow from this source' a permanent setting?
No. You can turn it off immediately after installation. Go to Settings → Apps → your browser → Install unknown apps and disable it. This is a per-app permission, not a system-wide security change.
